A Dynamic Gateway to West Palm Beach

This project is a finalist to an RFP issued by the City of West Palm Beach seeking a signature mixed-use development along an environmentally sensitive canal and the major artery serving the city.

Working with its joint venture partners L&M Development and M Squared along with nArchitects and Song & Associates, Coconut is proposing an interconnected urban plan of iconic architecture, inviting public spaces, lush landscaping, local retail, economic development, market rate and workforce housing, and cultural programming to achieve broad benefits and positive impacts for the local communities.

Balancing density with a sensitivity to the site, three residential buildings emerge from a shared parking and retail podium, their sloping roofscapes positioned to create an iconic and sculptural ensemble while activating public spaces between the buildings and along the canal.

Coconut sought specific local and regional businesses to create a diverse, enthusiastic group that supported the common goal of bettering the communities they serve and instilling a new sense of place centered on health, education, the arts, and environmental resilience. Coconut also built support for the project throughout the community, receiving dozens of letters of support from local business leaders and residents.
